finding my balance

School has been wonderful!! I am having a fabulous time in the 5th grade. The first short week - 2 1/2 days - was lots of fun and went even better than I could have planned. My classroom came together nicely and the students are all so sweet and funny!
The first full week of school just wrapped up and I have never worked harder, longer or been more exhausted in my life!! I am loving each and every second of teaching. I have been writing loooooong to-do lists and getting a lot done, even though I've been taking some of my weekend to do it. Although a lot of the list is filled with things I will only have to create once, like bulletin board titles, new forms, etc - the joys of being a first year teacher :)

***I'll take pictures again this week and update the blog with my newest classroom pictures, with student work! ***

Last weekend I tried to get a little "me" time by celebrating my birthday with friends at wine tasting. We went to Malibu Winery and had a fabulous time!! It was so relaxing, filled with yummy wine, lots of laughter and a bright, sunny day. Thank you friends for making my 28th so memorable!!

Your classroom looks great! I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying it!

I remember how much work my first year was. I always brought stuff home at night and on the weekends. Now, I rarely have to! Good luck!!

Looks adorable! I remember my sisters first year - so much work, but all worth it in the end! :)

Your room looks great! I'm glad you're enjoying your class so far. I just finished my first week, too. I know what you mean about the massive to-do lists! I convinced myself not to go into work in my room today 9Sunday) but now I'm regretting it because I feel like I have so much to do!
I can't wait to see more pics. I'll hopefully be posting some pics of my room soon, too. :)

"...and you don't look a day over 29!" LOL

I'm glad that you're not working too hard!! Save your saturdays for fun, not for work :)

Your room looks fabulous! I'm SO jealous you have a class right now... there are no teaching positions where I live at present. *sigh*

I hope next week goes as well as your first. :)
