This past year I completed my first year of teaching. I taught 5th grade and had a wonderful class of 31 students. As of now I'll be back to school as a reading intervention specialist, with all the budget problems I still have my fingers crossed that all of the higher ups in CA figure it out and I get a job in the classroom again!
Here's the 5th grade team of teachers!
(I'm the 2nd from the left...)
A view of my desk. The pictures on the front of my desk are all from students. I love how sweet my class was...I don't want to post their pictures, so the classroom will have to do.
The 5th grade bulletin board in the hallway of the school. My class' persuasive writing...Why should you be the first kid on Mars?
A view of a group science project about the solar system.
During Open House the students and their parents all left messages on the board. They were such touching messages of a successful school year.
And if you can believe it...my classroom at the end of the year. The pile of boxes near the door are now at my parent's house...waiting for a new home! :)

Your room was super cute! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you :)
Congrats on finishing your first year!! Enjoy your summer!
Your classroom is so cute! I wish I was that creative. I have ambition to change the posters, but I looked at the front of the classroom this year when I was teaching about the Civil War and notices my lovely posters on the different colonial regions...hmm...
Also, have you heard of Carney Sandoe? It's a teacher placement organization that works placing teachers into independent schools...it's how I found my job now and the fellowship that I did right after college.
Very cute!
What cute pictures! 5th grade seems like it would be a really fun group to teach! Love the pursuasive writing topic! Fingers crossed that you get your own classroom again this year :)
Cute room!! I love seeing other people's rooms!! Keep us posted on the job front!! :)
How sad to see the room so bare after a year of memories. I can't wait for my first year of teaching!
What a great classroom! I'm trying to get inspired for my classroom this year... I think I need to display more student work, like you did!
So cute! I was an elementary teacher before staying at home this past year to take care of my daughter born last July! Part of me misses it but I'm so busy with being a new mom that takes up most of my time! Just had to come by after seeing your name (on Memoir of a Southern Belle)...now I'm following. Looking forward to checking back! Hope you enjoy summer! Oh and I have a teaching friend in Santa Clarita, CA. Is that anywhere near y'all?
i just finished my first year teaching as well. teaching high school is a bit different than elementary, but it's such a rewarding career, isn't it? i hate how it's so hard to keep a job now though. the only way i landed one for next year is because i'm teaching five subjects, no prep periods, and head volleyball coach. nuts!! good luck with everything. i'm so glad i found your blog. xo.
