yard sale!

In an effort to clean house (apartment) I've been making piles and piles of things to soon sell at a yard sale.  I love yard sales.  I went to a couple last weekend and found these pretties...

The large vase ($1) now has a candle in it. 

The wrapped vase ($1) is on the dining table.

The 3 books ($1 total) are packed away, waiting for a classroom.

And the bulletin board ($2) is in my crafty area of the living room.

So I'm cleaning out the apartment and have a nice little pile of treasures for a yard sale...

I hope to make a litte extra so I can put it towards art supplies.  The boy said he'll be painting a canvas for me.  Gotta love original art!!

These are adorable Steve Madden black flats.  I purchased them from the Steve Madden website, but they sent the wrong color!  I thought I'd end up wearing them anyway, but already have too many black flats!!  So their mistake is your chance for a new pair of shoes!!

I don't know if you can tell from these pictures, but there is a tiny line of white stitching around the cut-outs.

I love Princess by Vera Wang.  It is girly and purple (my favorite color!). 

I also like Pink by Victoria's Secret, also very girly and light.  

I also love W by Banana Republic, smells sophisticated to me, haha!

2. What's your favorite song lyric?

The first song that came to mind is "Songbird" by Eva Cassidy.  I first heard it on the Love Actually soundtrack.  It is all about love, hopelessly romantic.  Here are the lyrics...

4. What's the best birthday you ever had?

I had a wonderful birthday last year.  My friends and I went to the Malibu Winery for some wine tasting.  If you are anywhere near Malibu, then you need to go!!  You can bring your own picnic and they even have live music in the summer.

We've been back so many times since.  And a bunch of us are now members of the winery too! :)

5. Do you have a signature dish or meal that you make?

In short, nope!  Although I do love cooking.  I often cook...

I Heart Comments

As a blogger I love getting comments, which I'm sure we all do!  My favorite is being able to comment or e-mail back to questions and making new connections with readers.  But I don't like it when I hit reply and get the noreply-comment@blogger.com e-mail :(  Change those settings people!!

I borrowed these steps from Mrs. B, who borrowed them from somewhere else, so feel free to keep these instructions moving around the blogging world.  Update those settings!!


1. Click on the Customize link in the upper right hand corner of your screen.

2. Click on the Dashboard link in the upper right hand corner of your screen.

3. Click Edit Profile, which in on the left hand side of the screen next to your profile picture.

4. This will take you to the Edit User Profile screen.


5. Look in the Privacy section.


6. Click on the box that says, "Show my email address."


7. In the Identity section, enter in an email address.


8. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on Save Profile.

Easy right?!  Now we can chat it up! :)

Opinions Please!

I was just looking at this chair yesterday at Ikea.  It is too cute!!  I've always loved these acrylic chairs and this is a great alternative to the usually about $400ish designer chairs. 

This one from Ikea is $100.

And then today on HauteLook I found this version of the chair.  It's much closer to the designer chairs.  And only $120. 

Now what do you think?!  Here's a look of these chairs in a decorated room...

So what do you think?  Is the HauteLook version the best?  I think so...what about you?  Do I go for it?

Vanilla Bean Dream

I purchased this dress from Mod Cloth a few weeks ago.  I love it!!  I think it is just a too cute cocktail dress.  The only slight problem is that it is kinda poofy.  Like it could be a maternity dress.  I mean, I think it's obvious that I'm not preggers and it's not like it's a 9 month dress, just a little poofy. 

What do you think out there in blogging world?  I think I have made up my mind, but maybe not...help!  Please? :)

Summer!!!

It's summer vacation!!! Woo-hoo!!

Yesterday was the last day of school. I can't believe it's over already. I will miss my wonderful class of 5th graders, especially since they were my first class.

Now on to summer vacation and relaxing. This weekend I'll be spending time with the boy at the pool. Over summer I hope to...

• Scrapbook! I hope to finish the final half of my college scrapbooks, create a book of my first 5th grade class and maybe even start a book for me and my boy.
• Wii Fit! I want to get in the routine of using the wii fit for at least 3-4 days a week. It shouldn't be too hard to do, especially since it's fun, but I guess it's just getting into the routine.
• Organize! I want to finally purchase a dresser and a bookshelf/filing cabinet for my apartment. Those are my last big items that I need to finally feel unpacked in my apartment.
• Cook! My mom had given me a slow-cooker a few months back and I have a great cookbook too, so now I just need to start using them.
• Read! I have a huge stack of magazines and lots of chick-lit books that I can't wait to read.
