Look for Less
I don't know if this happens to you all, but I just found out I have an adorable knock-off without realizing it! When reading blogs this morning I found this dress at with a wink and a smile. And I thought, cute, but wait, it looks familiar!
I realized I own a Forever 21 version of this exact dress!! It's the dress I wore to the Murder Mystery Birthday party. Mine is green, but otherwise the exact same. Love it! :)
What's your favorite look for less find? Please share!!

Weekend Update
Saturday was busy!! I went with the boy to a BBQ of all of his college friends. There was croquet, grilling and darts. It was a ncie day out too, so all in all a good BBQ party.
Here's what I wore to the BBQ:
Top: Gap
Shorts: Forever 21
Sandals: Target
Sunglasses: Old Navy
Tote: Nine West
The same night we had another party to attend. My boy plays on a kickball team and this was the end of the season party. It was lots of fun!!
Me and the boy on the way to the party
MJ & MJ
The theme was monochromatic, well for clothing anyway :) We played flip cup, beer pong and just had a ton of fun!
Sunday was spent running errands for the boy's new condo. It's so much fun to decorate, but also so much work...
What did you do this weekend!?

Miscellany Monday
1. I have 109 followers!! Woo-hoo!! So that means this week there will totally be a giveaway! But the question is, what to give away? What would you all like to see? Gift card? Jewelry? Stationery? Book? Let me know :)
2. Thank you all for your help with the last post about which color tote to purchase. I did purchase the cognac tote. I ordered it online, so I can't wait to see it! I think I'm still on the lookout for a cream and a grey tote now too, hehe...
3. There are only 14 days until I go back to work!! I have a couple of meeting days before the school year starts. I can't wait to get into my room and start setting up! As you all have seen from my previous classroom here, there's so much to do!! I'm excited for the new year and also totally having the nervous dreams before the school year, like loosing my class or not being prepared. So stressful...wonder if it will ever get better, maybe after a few years teaching? Nah, probably not!
4. This past weekend the boy and I went out to a couple different bbq/parties. I'll post pictures today, don't have the plug in for the camera. And I took an OOTD pic, my first one, so that'll be up too, exciting! :)
5. This Thursday my brother and I are going to Disneyland. We made reservations for the World of Color show. It's supposed to be amazing, so I can't wait.
6. I'm not doing that well on my July Resolutions. I've caught up with girlfriends, paid off that credit card and tried baking/cooking more this month too. And I still plan on getting my paperwork organized this week. I haven't been too good about exercising though :( I have only worked-out a handful of times. I just need to get into a routine, especially with school starting. Anyone have any tips about starting a workout routine? What works for you?

So...I went out shopping today with the intention of purchasing a few pieces for the school year. I did buy some things for teaching, but I also just found some great deals with all the end of summer sales and new fall item sales too.
From Forever 21 I purchased...
A black cardigan
A gray and navy blue stripe cardigan
A gold and tan stripe tank
This adorable bow ring
This great vintage beaded necklace, but I purchased in a great aqua color.
From Gap I purchased
These cute sandals on sale, but mine are a goldish rose color
These cardigans are on sale!! This deep purple color has gold stripes on the inside trim, which will look so great with the sleeves folded up.
T-shirts were $10!!! I bought one in gray and one in a deep heathered purple...
And this great red and white stripe top was on super clearance! I've been wanting one all summer, too cute!
And from Old Navy...
I bought these cute pink shorts (only $4!!!)
And this great button down (only $9!!!)
I also purchased a couple things from Ann Taylor Loft and Banana Republic :)

Fill in the Blank Friday
Join in the fun at The Little Things We Do...
1. A very nostalgic place that reminds me of being a kid is Zuma beach. Every summer my dad would take me and my brother, along with another dad and his two girls. We would pack lunches, ride waves on boogie boards and build sand castles. On the way home all of us kids would sing songs along with casette tapes at the top of our lungs!
2. If someone really wants to show me how much they love me they should tell me. To show that they love me would be to do simple things like hold my hand, kiss my cheek, rub my back or just smile.
3. Lately I've been wondering a lot about when I will find out about working in the fall. I've been patiently waiting to hear about the next school year, but it is so stressful and I just want a little certainty.
4. When it comes to saving money I am not that good at it. I love to shop and will save up for a little while, but am not too good about saving for big items. Although I am good with a budget, so I don't get too crazy about spending :).
5. I'd prefer sandals over sneakers any day! I love summer whether and dressy sandals, flip flops or high heels are always better than sneakers, too constricting!!
6. I wish I knew how to make more meals from scratch. I'm working on becoming a better cook and baker though, so I'm improving!
7. I'm just waiting it be to 4 o'clock so I can drive to Starbucks and then to class tonight. I don't want to go, but what can you do!?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

What I'm loving Wednesday is an idea I'm borrowing from Little Daisy May's blog. She is always posting the cutest dresses and lots of cute pictures of happy things! I thought...that's just what I need in my day today. So here's my list of what I'm loving...
1. From some online window shopping...
2. I'm also loving that it is summer vacation! I have been enjoying sleeping in and lounging around as well. If only I had a cute puppy to snuggle up with too! The boy is planning on getting a bulldog...so one day soon I will have a snuggle buddy (besides the boy of course!)
3. My boy's new condo! We moved him in last week and I love it!! It's brand new and just perfect.
4. Making dinner with my boy. Tonight we'll be making fajitas. Yum!
I think I'll have a Corona too :)
5. Catching up with friends and continuing to build those great girlfriends. You know, the kind where you can call at 2am needing someone to listen or someone to celebrate with? I love my girls!! AOT!
What are you loving this Wednesday?!?

4th of July Treats
Here is the outcome of my chocolate sprinkle marshmallows from the 4th of July. They were a perfect centerpiece for the potluck table. They were super sweet, but a yummy treat for the holidays :)

crawfish festival & taste of malibu
The week after we went with friends to the Strawberry Festival & Malibu Winery we were at it again...more food and drinks and fun!!
First up was a Crawfish Festival. It was an event that friends of ours were doing the marketing for and we were invited.
Here's the boy with a crawfish...
The boys eating the buckets of crawfish. I stuck with the jumbalaya :)
After the festival we drove out to the Malibu Winery. We had won tickets to a Taste of Mailbu event. There were lots of restaurants with delish food and wine too. All of it was free to us, but I have to brag, the tickets were $95 each!!
The boy & I at the winery.
They have all kinds of animals at the estate.
Here's a zebra!!
A mini burger! It had strawberry and chocolate, so good!
And my favorite...creme brule! I decided then and there that at my wedding (when that happens, lol!) we will have mini ceme brule!!
It was a busy day, driving all over SoCal, but worth all the yummy food!

First Year of Teaching
This past year I completed my first year of teaching. I taught 5th grade and had a wonderful class of 31 students. As of now I'll be back to school as a reading intervention specialist, with all the budget problems I still have my fingers crossed that all of the higher ups in CA figure it out and I get a job in the classroom again!
Here's the 5th grade team of teachers!
(I'm the 2nd from the left...)
A view of my desk. The pictures on the front of my desk are all from students. I love how sweet my class was...I don't want to post their pictures, so the classroom will have to do.
The 5th grade bulletin board in the hallway of the school. My class' persuasive writing...Why should you be the first kid on Mars?
A view of a group science project about the solar system.
During Open House the students and their parents all left messages on the board. They were such touching messages of a successful school year.
And if you can believe it...my classroom at the end of the year. The pile of boxes near the door are now at my parent's house...waiting for a new home! :)

new camera!!
Here's the cute new camera I purchased online tonight!
I can't wait for it to be delievered...between 7/12 and 7/15 :)
I've been lost without a camera since St. Patrick's Day when I lost mine. That's what happens for carrying a purse that barely fits all I'm trying to carry. It was fortunate that I had taken all pictures off and it had died that night, so I didn't loose anything except the camera itself. I have been able to borrow the boy's camera once in awhile, so it wasn't all tragic. Can't wait for this one to get here!!
Strawberry Festival & Malibu Winery
A group of friends went out a few weeks ago for a day of fun and food! First stop was the Strawberry Festival. We ate strawberry nachos, strawberry smoothies and drank strawberry beer and wine.
Me & Mindi with our Strawberry Wine
A few of the group...
Next stop was the Malibu Winery. They had their pick-up party for members so a few of us stopped by for more food and wine.
View from the estate...gorgeous!
Me, Mindi & Chrissy

Me & the boy :)
More views of the estate...they hold weddings there, can't you just picture a gorgeous outdoor wedding!?
It was a busy day of fun!
