I had to teach a 55 minute lesson when I interviewed at my current school. I asked what they were working on at the time, and then I made sure that my lesson lined up with what they were working on. I don't know what level you're going for, but I would just make sure to vary the activities and have three parts or so to your lesson. If you can talk to a teacher that you're going to be teaching in her classroom that would be helpful as well. When is it?! Good luck!!
I've never heard of doing an lesson for an interview. Good luck! I wish schools around me were hiring right now! I'm just waiting to even apply for something!
I've never done an lesson in an interview either, but I agree with what Meghan said about meeting / talking with the teacher who's classroom you'll be teaching in about what they are currently working on and possibly any "classroom management" rituals they have going that might help you in transitions etc.
Do you know what subject you're going to teach in the interview?
I'm sorry not to have any advice, but I'm sure just sticking with what you know and have been trained to do will be great! If you know any other teachers at the school, it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask them for advice. I'm excited for you! Good luck with the interview!!!
Good Luck! That quote is quite frankly amazing and it is so true, my favorite teachers always pulled something out of me and made me think and truly inspired me. XO!
I just tweeted you about this, but send me your email and I'll send you some tips. I currently teach 2nd grade, and had to teach a lesson for the interview that got me the job!
I am equally excited and stressed out by this post ... hahaha... if it's a public school, (and I'm sure you are aware of this) but I would highly recommend looking into the CA State Standards for whatever subject you are teaching and make sure to incorporate those ideas into the lesson, sooo excited too though and will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!! xoxox
I've only had one interview but they didn't have me teach a lesson. I would do something hands on and try and integrate a little technology if you can. Good luck! I'm also super jealous of your warm CA weather!
I love that teaching quote. Congrats on the second interview! I've never had to teach a lesson as part of the interview process, but I've heard of it being done. Only suggestion is to practice it before hand, especially in front of another adult. I am fine in front of the kids (or when I practice for interviews alone), but when an adult is in the room for evals I get nervous. it'll probably be similar for you with the interviewers watching. You'll do great though! Good luck! :)

I've never had to teach a lesson as part of an interview...will you be teaching it to students or to those interviewing you?
