Meet the Teacher

Link up with other fabulous teachers at The First Grade Parade's Meet the Teacher!

I'm a new-ish teacher.  My first year teaching was in 5th grade, but due to California budget issues I was laid off.  Since then I was the long term sub for the first half of the year in 3rd grade.  I also did a long term sub position right out of student teaching in 2nd grade.  I guess you can say I've taught a lot for only teaching my own class for one year! :)

These are the 5th grade teachers at the end of the school year.
I'm the one in the striped dress.

I'm currently interviewing (yes, finally heard back from the school!!) and hoping to start a position in 2nd next week!!  So keep those fingers crossed if you would lovely bloggers?!

What would you be doing if you weren't a teacher?
I'd probably be doing things with non-profit organizations that work with children.

What are your hobbies?
I love cooking, baking, crafting, wine tasting, shopping!!

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I said I wanted to be an actress and a teacher.  Well I did the acting throughout high school and college and now I'm teaching!

What are your guilty pleasures?
Blogging!!  I seriously could read blogs for days...
Diet Coke, Red Wine, Shopping for deals, Nachos, Real Housewives

What is your biggest fear?
Snakes!  Dis-like greatly!!

When your'e on vacation, where do you like to go?
Tropical places!!  I can't wait for Puerto Vallarta this summer.

What's the best advice you've ever received?
Be yourself.

What do you value most in others?
Tolerance.  Acceptance of others for who they are is important.

If you could choose one of your personality traits to pass down to your kids, what would it be?
Being a great listener for friends and family in need.

If you could have lunch with anyone in the world...living or dead...who would it be?
My grandma.  She passed away when I was in 5th grade. I miss her.

Now tell us one random thing about you.
I joined Kappa Delta sorority in college and I'm now an advisor for the chapter at UCLA.  I love helping out all the girls.

Fingers crossed! You are so lucky you are teaching though. Here I cannot even get on a TOC list.. I think I forget how to teach haha. 2nd is a bit too young for me, I love 4/5.

I was an advisor for ADPi when I got out of college. Unfortunately, the chapter changed a lot but I enjoyed working with the girls.
